DIY Faux Bake Shop Awning

For our Bake Shop Party I knew I wanted a faux awning to create a store front look. I had seen several things on pinterest that either involved screwing brackets into my walls or a full free standing frame. These were both not option. I told my dad my dilemma and he came up with this PVC pipe creation. This is not as much of a tutorial as images of behind the scenes. Unfortunately I cannot really give step by step on how it goes together. But here it goes...

A trip to Home Depot for some pipes and angle connectors and I was not convinced it was going to make anything. haha! Well as long as I had anything to do with it. Luckily my dad knew just what it would look like.

A few minutes later it looked like this. Basically he created a rectangle that sat against the wall. We used the tv to keep it upright rather than brackets. If you don't have a wall mounted tv you could use a metal strip and a few screws to hold it to the wall.

Off the rectangle he created these arms to give the awning the angle in front. We ran a pipe along the front to support the fabric.

I took a basic rectangle and a friend hemmed the front edge. She sewed a few ties underneath to tie to the pipes. The fabric is draped over the top of the pipe against the wall and just draped over the front. PVC pipes and fabric and VOILA!

From boring ....... to Bake Shop!

DIY Cupcake Liner Garland

I am finally getting back to my Bake Shop Party posts. This is a tutorial on a simple cupcake liner garland as seen on my dessert table. I had my table all set up a few hours before the party and felt like something was missing. I knew I wanted a garland but the only thing I had on hand was cupcake liners. A few minutes later I had this cutie hanging.

I started with a stack of pink polka dot cupcake liners. I stacked them all up and punched a hole directly in the middle.

Then I took some 3/8 inch pink ribbon I had on hand and thread it through my hole.

I kept them on the spool so I could continue to slide them down until I had the desired length I needed. I alternated the direction the liners went to give it some dimension. They would have just stacked inside each other if all facing the same way. It would have taken TONS of liners to create it this way.

I kept stringing them alternating as I went until I had the length I needed. It took approximately 42 liners to have the look I wanted on my 6 foot table.

Attach to your table cloth with pins underneath to finish the table. I love the pop of color.

Give it a try. Not just for a baking party. Use any color of liners for any theme. So easy and such a fast project. Enjoy!

Mermaid Printable Party Package

I am so excited to show you this fun mermaid party. My daughter's best friend has a birthday the day before hers. It is always a crazy couple of weeks full of party fun.

This year for Sydney's birthday her mom created a beautiful tablescape with ruffle fabric and tissue pom jelly fish. to set the stage for her mermaid birthday party.

She made an adorable pink layer cake and purchased the cute mermaid fondant toppers from etsy.

The kids all took a picture with the birthday girl in this fun hot pink frame.

She created a favor bar where the kids get to full their favor bags with lots of goodies

She had Mermaid Bubble Bath, smore kits, shovels with skittles, and gummy sharks in our mini chevron favor bags.

Rock candy, mermaid bubbles, curly hair bows(a pirate patch for the 1 boy), and salt water taffy.

This glittery 6 and aqua stand you may recognize from the Bake Shop party. It was repurposed with a star fish to add some sparkle to the beverage counter. Also featuring a 5M Creations centerpiece available in the printable package. There were even shells in the bottom of the punch dispienser.

Polka dot balloons and a mermaid wreath welcomed the guests and lanterns and shells were added to the home to pull the theme throughout the space.

After cake and favors we loaded the kids up to head to the swimming pool. Perfect for all the mermaids of course. These adorable mermaid tails were made from beach towels, velcro, and ponytail holders to create the tail.

It was a perfect end to a fun party.
Happy Birthday Sydney! Hope you had a fun mermaid filled day.

A full printable package will be available in my store soon. Here is a look at the mermaid party invitation. A happy birthday banner, centerpiece, party sign, cupcake toppers, tent cards, favor tags, and more will be included.
